The artist takes the overwhelming complexity of the world and of anything you might value, and reduces it to a perceivable image; he reduces the abstract to a concrete.

If an artist’s view has moved you, if it speaks to you, if you find yourself responding – “This is what I would like to see in my world and this is the way I would like to see the world,” then contemplating that work is a way of communicating directly not only with that artist’s soul, but also with your own.
